What not to do during the pandemic

During the pandemic of COVID-19, our daily lives are completely different from what they used to be.

Our rhythms, our habits, everything have changed. However, we must remember that all this will pass at some point and life will continue where we left off. At least as long as we are careful not to do the following:

Do not panic

Panic is the worst companion in times of crisis. It distracts from our goals, doesn’t allow us to think clearly and leads to spasmodic movements and erroneous mistakes. The first thing we should avoid doing then is panicking. We need to stay calm and don’t let our fear spread to those around us (and especially to our children). Our goal is to protect ourselves and the people we meet by faithfully following the basic guidelines given to us.

Don’t approach the elderly

The people most at risk for coronavirus are the so-called vulnerable groups. That is, the elderly and those with respiratory or heart problems. So, if we love our parents, grandparents, uncles or any other elderly person in our environment, the best thing to do is to protect them from our own symptoms! Since you can never be sure what exactly causes your cough, fever or runny nose, the best thing to do is not to approach them at all, unless you are feeling well.

Don’t visit grandparents

For the same reason, we minimize our visits to grandparents (even if we find a window in the quarantine schedule). We may turn out to be the carriers and we may not be aware of it or our symptoms may not be present yet. We can show them our love by phone or text messages or buy groceries for them and leave the products at the front door without entering their home. We should take care to protect them.

No handshakes, kisses or hugs

We are a warm and expressive people who do not miss the opportunity to exchange handshakes, kisses and hugs. However, during this period we must not only reduce, but avoid the corresponding gestures completely since the coronavirus is transmitted in this exact way! In fact, in addition to trying to keep a safe distance from others (e.g. in the supermarket), we also should wear disposable gloves to make sure we don’t touch anything contaminated, or a mask if we feel that we are surrounded by a virus.
