The idea came out when one of my friends asked my advice about a school project. She had to choose a letter of the English alphabet and find a way to represent it. I suggested to use the body to make the letter or words …
Today I have chosen the letter M…and the word “mushroom” in English…beloved word in fairy tales. The same word starts with an M in Greek language too.
Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a mushroom and psychoactive basidiomycete fungus, one of many in the genus Amanita. The red-and-white spotted toadstool is a common image in many aspects of popular culture. Garden ornaments and children’s picture books depicting gnomes and fairies, such as the Smurfs, often show fly agarics used as seats or homes.
It was popular in our country since the ancient times. It was thought as an “exquisite food”. Some researchers claim that fly agaric was the “ambrosia”, the dessert of Gods.
Amanita muscaria is called “hallucinogenic” mushroom and considered as “magic one” by our ancestors.
Fly agarics have been featured in paintings since the Renaissance albeit in a subtle manner. In the Victorian era they became more visible, becoming the main topic of some fairy paintings.
Two of the most famous uses of the mushroom are in the video game series Super Mario Bros. and the dancing mushroom sequence in the Disney film Fantasia.
It is the most beautiful mushroom, the fairy tale mushroom!!!!
